How do I get started with cosmetic surgery?

Choosing to undergo cosmetic surgery is an important decision. Many factors are involved in making this decision: finding a surgeon, finding out about the costs involved, understanding pre-operative requirements, surgical risks and recovery time. Most patients begin this process by researching their desired procedure online, or by consulting friends who have already undergone surgery. The most important step is to find a surgeon you can trust.

At Dr. Haddad, we make sure that every patient feels listened to, understood, respected and trusted by every member of the team. During the initial consultation, Dr. Haddad takes the time to fully understand each patient's needs and desires. The patient's general state of health and any previous medical complications are discussed. After the physical examination and measurements are taken, photos are taken and, in most cases, a 3D simulation is performed to give an idea of the possible results after surgery. Next, Dr. Haddad explains the surgical (and/or non-surgical, if applicable) options available to the patient, detailing the fees associated with each, and answers any questions. Once the consultation is complete, the patient sits down with Stephanie, Dr. Haddad's administrative assistant, to discuss which dates are available, how payment works and the process for moving forward.

The patient is free to schedule surgery on the spot or to take more time to think things over. Dr. Haddad remains available for a second consultation appointment if the patient needs clarification or advice before making a decision.

Once the date has been set, we schedule a telephone appointment with one of our nurses for pre- and post-operative explanations and advice, to discuss how the day of surgery will go, and to explain how the post-operative emergency number works.

On the day of surgery, before going into the operating room, the patient meets again with Dr. Haddad, the anesthetist, the respiratory therapist and the nurse to verify information and answer any last-minute questions. After surgery, the patient remains in the recovery room for a few hours under the care of our specialized nurses before returning home.

Dr. Haddad sees all his patients 24-48 hours post-operatively, and several more times in the weeks and months following surgery. In general, the final follow-up and before/after photos are taken 6 months post-operatively for breast and body surgeries, and 1 year post-operatively for facial surgeries. However, Dr. Haddad remains available to his patients in the years following surgery.
