Neck lift

  • The neck lift technique

Neck resurfacing can be done by liposuction only. This is possible in young people. This procedure can be combined with a chin implant which will increase the definition of the neck (see section on facial implants). As we age, we develop excess skin that needs to be corrected. For the excision of the skin 2 incisions are possible: A central incision at the level of the neck or another one, more camouflaged, behind the ears. The surgery is usually performed under local anaesthetic with sedation.

  • Recovery

Rest, keep your head elevated, avoid exertion, and manage pain. Close monitoring will be performed 24-48 hours post-op. A soft diet is recommended to reduce jaw pain. Showering is permitted 24-48 hours after surgery, once the bandage has been removed. Stitches are removed after one week. Gradually resume activities after one week. Makeup may be used during the week following surgery to conceal bruising, which may last an average of 2-3 weeks. Physical exercise may be resumed after 3-4 weeks.

  • Complications

Bleeding, necrosis of the skin around the incisions, damage to the nerves of expression, reduced skin sensation, facial asymmetry, recurrence of the deformity, visible scars, hair loss in certain areas around the incision and hairline displacement.

  • Preparing for surgery

Stop smoking, avoid blood thinning medication. Respect the fasting required and take care to clean the skin well with an antiseptic soap.

  • What to watch for after surgery

Severe swelling especially in the neck, asymmetry of the face, difficulty breathing, exaggerated bruising, heavy discharge from wounds and fever.

  • Associated fees

Starting at $13,500 ( plus taxes)

  • The popular belief is that there is nothing to be done about the neck, but this is not true. For this reason, among others, most people camouflage their neck with clothing. Just like the hands, the neck can betray age. There is an effective treatment for this area. The scars are placed behind the ears, which maximizes the camouflage of the ears. Please note: injectable treatments (aesthetic medicine), performed under local anaesthesia, are often not very effective for this part of the body.
