Lower face lift

  • The surgical technique

    Several subtle incisions can be made to correct these deformities. The scars are located mainly around the ears with an incision in the neck at the base of the chin if necessary.

  • Recovery

    Rest, keep your head elevated, avoid exertion, and manage pain. A post-operative follow-up will be scheduled 24-48 hours after surgery. A soft diet is recommended to reduce jaw pain. You may shower 24-48 hours after surgery, once the bandage has been removed. Stitches are removed after one week. Gradually resume activities after one week. Makeup may be used during the week following surgery to conceal bruising, which may last an average of 2-3 weeks. Physical exercise may be resumed after 3-4 weeks.

  • Complications

    Bleeding, necrosis of the skin around the incisions, damage to the nerves of expression, reduced skin sensation, facial asymmetry, recurrence of the deformity, visible scars, hair loss in certain areas around the incision and hairline displacement.

  • Preparing for surgery

    Stop smoking, avoid blood thinning medication. Respect the fasting required and take care to clean the skin well with an antiseptic soap.

  • What to watch for after surgery

    Severe swelling especially in the cheeks, asymmetry of the face, difficulty breathing, exaggerated bruising, heavy discharge from wounds and fever.
